The following is a list of projects that will be performed during the Spring 2018 semester of PHYS 318. Expand the project of interest to view the name(s) of a faculty member who will serve as the project sponsor, the project team members, and the project repository address.
Radio Telescope: SDR
Students will build an application that will allow remote control of the settings on and data collection from an AirSpy SDR (software-defined radio) connected to a myRIO.
Project Sponsors:
- Dr. Steven Gibson
- Dr. Doug Harper
Team Members:
- Micky McClellan
- Courtney Smith

Characterization of Pilot Chair Simulator
Students will build an application that will measure the vertical position and the acceleration (or force) of an existing system in WKU Engineering that simulates the motion experienced by a pilot in a cockpit.
Project Sponsors:
- Dr. Chris Byrne, Mechanical Engineering
Team Members:
- Sandy Karam
- Jason Rolle
Repository Address:

Automated Test System for PIR Light Sensors
Students will build a system that will test the range and sensitivity of passive infra-red (PIR) sensors used on light fixtures manufactured by HeathCo.
Project Sponsors:
- ??, HeathCo, LLC
Team Members:
- Trason Carter
- Clay Thomas
Repository Address:
svn://physics.wku.edu/phys318/projects/heathco/pir/trunk/
Monitor a Tension Control System
An application will be developed that will monitor the tension in a system that supplies polyethylene material by allowing it to unwind from a roll and be fed to a production machine.
Project Sponsors:
- Essity
Team Members:
- Floyd James
