  • Instructor as a coach.
  • Negotiated control of the course.
Needed for the new egaltarian information economy where positions are more tailered to the skills of the person and are constantly changing and evolving. 

Teacher-centered classroom

  • Goal is transmitting knowledge to students.
  • Students are passive recipients in course.
  • Source of information is instructor.
  • Instructor as a taskmaster.
  • Instructor maintains control of the course.

Appropriate for the old heirarchial industrial econonomy where workers must fit into predefined positions and may do the same job for life.
