I was dreading physics at the beginning of the semester, but as the semester progressed our table got really close and that's what made it so enjoyable. You did a good job grouping our table together! Physics is not as bad as I thought, it's quite interesting actually, just a little difficult sometimes. --unsolicited email from a student (College Physics class)
It's by far the best room I've ever had, I mean, flat down. After 12 years of, y'know, just sitting at a desk, watching someone up in front just writing on a board, I mean, it's boring. It's gotten progressively harder for me to learn like that. This way you got the two screens and the projector, you can choose which one. You're constantly moving, you're constantly not dozing off or going into La-La Land or anything like that. You've gotta pay attention, and it just enforces that, I think. And the tables, I mean, to be able to work in groups, that's been so helpful ... because we can bounce ideas off each other; that's more helpful than just the regular sit at your desk and try to work it out yourself. Having laptops there, I've really enjoyed that, because, once again, you don't really have a chance to, daydream or anything like that, cause, you've gotta pay attention. You can get on there, and do little Physlets, or, look at the notes, and it's just more interaction, and through that you can just get more out of what he's talking about. --student interview (University Physics class)
