SPS Meeting Minutes – 08/23/2024
Thank you all for coming to this week’s meeting! If you were not able to make it to the meeting, we highly encourage coming to the next one. Here are the topics we discussed today.
- Upcoming Events for SPS
- Table at Discover Fest. Tuesday 2 – 4. Anyone who is available during that time is appreciated and should contact Kelly Humphrey for more details.
- Ice cream Social, Friday Sept. 6th from 2 – 4 (after Labor Day). There will be an SPS meeting after the Ice cream Social at 4:30 pm in Room 2038.
- SPS Picnic. Date TBD. (Saturday, mid to late September preferably). Either the 14th or 21st of Sept. from 11am to 3 pm. Food and games will be provided.
- SPS Trip. Will be during spring break. Oakridge is a possibility, but ideas for the trip are encouraged.
- Snacks and Drinks for SPS Room. There are now snacks and drinks in the SPS Room that can be purchased with cash. If you do not have cash available a QR code for Venmo will be available. Prices will be listed soon.
- SPS T-Shirts. As of now submission for t-shirt ideas are welcomed and will be presented at our next meeting. So far 10 people are interested in purchasing an SPS t-shirt. The choice of either a hoodie or a t-shirt will be made available upon the decision of a design. Please limit the designs to 2 colors.
- Game Night. In place of regular meetings, we will be hosting game nights which include Jack box, Nintendo Switch, card games, board games, ping-pong, air hockey, etc.
- Trebuchet Day!
- Group outing for SPS. Bowling, mini golf, paintball, laser tag, etc.
- Outreach events. Talking to highschoolers and getting them interested in physics and astronomy. We will possibly need volunteers in the future to help with outreach events.
