2018 Student Research Conference Accepting Abstracts
The 48th Annual WKU Student Research Conference is now accepting student abstract submissions to present mentored research and creative works. Friday, February 16, 2018 is the deadline for students to submit 200-word abstracts describing their scholarly activities.
Students may submit work that falls into the following categories: oral papers, posters, exhibits, displays, demonstrations, performances, and video. The conference is interdisciplinary and accepts work from both undergraduate and graduate students. Any student who has completed a faculty-mentored project is invited to submit. Students who graduate in December are welcome to present their scholarly works at the spring conference as long as the projects were completed when they were students. Only abstracts approved by WKU faculty are considered by the conference scheduling committee.

The SRC will host professional development workshops for students in the spring semester to help them get ready to present their work in a conference setting. These workshops are free and open to all students. The first workshop, “How to Write an Abstract,” will be led by Dr. Leila Watkins on February 1, 5:00 PM, in HCIC 2007.
The conference itself will take place on Saturday, March 24, 2018 in the Downing Student Union on the Bowling Green campus. The conference will feature a keynote lecture by Dr. Kendra Cherry-Allen from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute titled, “Neuroplasticity: Mapping a Path from Undergraduate to Postdoctoral Clinical Research.” This lecture is free and open to the community.
The WKU Student Research Conference and campus-wide REACH (Research Experiences and Creative Heights) activities spotlight scholarly activity at WKU each spring. The 2017 conference featured 392 student presenters. Student participants represented diverse disciplines from over 40 departments, programs, and institutes in all colleges.
