Upcoming WKU SIAM Events
Many WKU Physics majors are also Math majors. Below is an announcement from Dr. Richard Schugart, the adviser of the WKU chapter of SIAM (The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics). They are quite active and I’d encourage you to get involved if you are interested.
The WKU SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics) Student Chapter has a list of great events planned! Here are some of the headlines.
We are planning on taking a day trip to Oak Ridge National Laboratories in early April. In order to tour some of the labs, they need advance (~4 weeks) notice. Please e-mail either Jeron Russell, Chapter President, at jeron.russell927@topper.wku.edu or the chapter adviser Dr. Richard Schugart at richard.schugart@wku.edu by the end of February if you interested in going.
We are sponsoring a math/interdisciplinary contest in modeling (i.e., You work on an open-end problem for a few days.). The contest runs from Thu evening, Feb 8-Mon evening, Feb 12 (short notice). We can submit teams of 1-3 students. Please e-mail by the end of the day on Mon, Feb 5, if you are interested.
