possible science funding cuts
Dear SPS Members,
On behalf of a list of professional science and engineering societies, the American Physical Society has written a letter urging the U.S. Congress to avoid deep 8.2% cuts to all federally discretionary spending, including science funding, that are scheduled to occur in January 2013. If these cuts come to pass, they will mean many fewer research grants, which will reduce career opportunities for students like yourself in many disciplines. Losses are likely to be felt in summer internships, graduate fellowships, and post-doc and industry jobs, as well as the scientific and technological innovation that drives much economic growth.
