Winter Meeting of American Association of Physics Teachers
The winter meeting of the American Association of Physics Teachers is being held from January 8 to 12, 2011 in Jacksonville, FL. The WKU Department of Physics and Astronomy is considering taking a group of interested students to this conference.
The early bird registration for students is only $25. The first two days of the conference are mostly workshops on different aspects of teaching (with additional registration costs). There are also several days of oral and poster presentations, an exhibitor show, etc.
This is a very good opportunity for our future physics teachers to connect with a national professional society. The abstract deadline has been extended to September 26. Also, there is a dedicated Society of Physics Students poster session (usually Sunday night) that can include outreach activities, research projects, etc.
If you are interested in attending this conference please see Dr. Scott Bonham. The website for the winter meeting is http://aapt.org/Conferences/wm2011/index.cfm.
