We have acquired parts to build two 18-inch (0.5 meter) radio telescopes from Ku-band digital satellite receiving systems, which operate at frequency of around 12 GHz (a wavelength of 2.5 cm). These will be used first for simple radiometer experiments with the sky, the Sun, people, etc. After this, we plan to combine the two receiving systems into an interferometer for classroom demonstrations or laboratory exercises to measure the separation of radiation sources, the angular diameter of the Sun, etc. Assembly and testing will begin soon.
