Laboratories

• Friction lab: Guided discovery lab where students discover what are the important factors in the size of the frictional force.  Requires computer, force sensor and motion sensor, books and paper. Student lab, DataStudio file.
• Torque lab: Guided discovery lab where students build up the torque equation for non-rotating objects.  Requires meter stick with drilled holes, holder, hanging masses, spring scales, rotational apparatus.  Student lab.

Hands-on Activities

• Energy bills: Teacher leads students through describing the energy distribution of a roller coaster to better understand conservation of energy.  Teacher guide, student sheets, Joule "money", gif, pdf.
  
• Problem solving sheets.  Templates for helping students solve challenging problems.  Derived from the University of Minnesota Physics Education Research Group's Cooperative Group Problem Solving approach.
