Welcome to the Homepage for Virtual Physics ...
Virtual Physics is a program designed to be used as a tool to integrate the differential equations of motion for different situations that arise in physics. It is useful both when an solution can and cannot be obtained by standard analytical techniques.
It is currently being tested in University Physics I (Physics 250, Dr. Doug Harper) and Classical Mechanics I (Physics 350, Dr. Richard Hackney) at Western Kentucky University. It was inspired by a DOS-based program, called MOTION, that was written by Professor Hackney. MOTION performs essentially the same functions as Virtual Physics but with a different user interface. Virtual
Physics is still in very early stages of development. This site is
a quick attempt to make the program available to other interested
parties who may want to use the program in their mechanics course.
It is appropriate both for introductory (calculus-based) and advanced
(requiring differential equations) mechanics courses. Please direct questions or comments regarding this program to Doug.Harper@wku.edu |
