SPS Officer Meeting 8/27/2010

Here are the minutes to the aforementioned meeting:

Present: Dr. Harper, Susanna Sadler, Schuyler Wolff, Mike Simpson

Topics

• Access to and using the officer accounts on the website
• SPS Recruitment – Officers will be present at the first class of core physics classes to speak about SPS.
• Meetings will be the 1st or 2nd Thursday of every month, the first will be September 9th.
• Fall Events – So far we have a picnic every fall. We are currently looking for more activities such as a game night, an Egg Drop Contest, and a Pumpkin Launch Competition. If you have ideas, bring them to the next meeting.
• Bank Account – New SPS Officers need to travel to the bank and sign to be able to use checks this week.
• Officers also need to send a picture of themselves to Dr. Harper for use on the SPS website.
• Public Nights – The SPS will be helping Dr. Campbell run the star gazing public nights on select Wednesdays. Speak to an officer or to Dr. Campbell if you are interested in helping.
• Physics Demos – There may have been some interesting demo equipment found we can use for SPS meetings and public relations.
• Funding – Snacks and beverages can be bought in the SPS room. The money can then be used to run the events.

September 9th will be the first meeting.  We will:

• Discuss event ideas for the fall semester
• Sign-up new members
• Meet the Officers
• Be looking for Public Nights volunteers
• Discuss SPS room access
