Color Blindness

Droplet Lens Magnification

  1. Question:
My team members are wondering if they can use a magnifying glass in conjunction with their liquid lens. As a follow up, does the zoom function of their phone cameras not count as an additional lens, as they use phones to obtain images? And if the phone may have multiple lenses, then can an external magnifying glass not also be an additional lens?

    Answer:
The drop of liquid is the "single convex lens". Using the zoom feature of any camera is making use of more than a single lens. A digital image can be enlarged, but the lens of the camera cannot contribute to the magnification.
